Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to Rumboldswhyke Church of England Primary School, where everything we do is founded in love , our core value

Our aim at Rumboldswhyke is to ensure that your child has a happy start to their schooling.

Rumboldswhyke is a happy, friendly and caring school where everyone is valued and respected. Our greatest strength is our skilled and dedicated staff team who work tirelessly to provide the best teaching and learning experience for each child in a happy and safe learning environment.

Our ethos is built on mutual respect for others, their values and beliefs. We hope to develop positive, active learners who are well prepared for their role in a rich and diverse society. We want our children to feel safe and secure and have the confidence to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Children learn best when they are happy and feel valued, challenged, supported and encouraged, so at Rumboldswhyke we take care to ensure our education is both enriching, enjoyable and purposeful. We particularly think it is important to nurture our children’s wellbeing, creativity, physical development and independence. At Rumboldswhyke, we aim to support our children to develop a love for learning which will continue throughout their lives and so we teach children about the importance of positive learning attitudes and how to build their learning power.

Naturally, we ask for your support and interest throughout your child’s school life as, by working together, the children are more likely to succeed in fulfilling their potential.

We are committed to the ideal of a partnership in education between home and school and, to this end, prospective parents are invited to visit the school in action and meet the staff and children.

You must feel free, at all times, to approach the staff, or myself to discuss any queries or concerns you may have – we will be happy to discuss them with you

Our vision to provide a nurturing, creative, Christian community where everyone achieves with confidence and enjoyment  so everyone embraces ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10)  acknowledges:

that relationships form the foundation to successful learning through a caring and nurturing environment. Getting to know your child well,  building trust and fostering positive self-esteem is essential in developing them as a confident and eager child who believes in themselves and is sensitive to the needs of others.

that children learn best when they are excited by their learning and the learning is purposeful. This is why we carefully plan sequences of learning based on the children’s interests, capturing their enthusiasm with an engaging hook and working towards an authentic outcome.  We endeavour to make links with the community and use the local area to enhance the provision we offer.

As part of the Bishop Luffa Learning Partnership we are able to offer exciting opportunities which develop our pupils spiritually, physically, creatively and intellectually. We are fortunate to have fantastic indoor and outdoor learning spaces which further enhance our provision.

I look forward to meeting you and giving you the opportunity to see what Rumboldswhyke has to offer.

Lisa Harris,

Head of School
